overhears some white academic enthusiastically talking about some book

digitizing project for ‘developing countries’ who can afford to build

libraries but might have computers/tablets/phones/etc. sure.


but. wait. did you even stop to think about whether or not these

‘developing countries’ actually need more english language resources?

why would they? why do you think this is important?

why not work to make better accessible resources in the local language?

(because that would be harder and require actually working with

communities instead of swooping in like a white saviour offering

something that no one probably wants?)
